Dundee United boss Micky Mellon has disclosed that he is set to have talks with Paul McMullan after it emerged that the player had agreed to join Dundee next season.
The attacker has not been a regular starter for the Tannadice side this season. As a result he is moving to Dens Park next season. The deal was announced by Dundee on Thursday.
Player set to leave at end of season
Mellon has revealed that he is a fan of the player. He was hoping to use McMullan more in the weeks ahead. However, he is now going to have talks with the player about his immediate future at the club.

“There’s a lot of things for us to discuss” he said. One of those things will no doubt be McMullan’s current standing in the Dundee United squad. They are set to play St Johnstone on Saturday.
“I like Paul”
“I like Paul. In my head I have a way that I want us to eventually play. And I want to play with attacking width at some stage. It’s just that at this minute there are some games when we have to compensate for who we are playing against. But I certainly saw Paul being part of what we wanted to do moving forward” Mellon continued.

It remains to be seen if McMullan will be part of United’s squad going forward, or he will be dropped from the side.
Dundee could also try and get the deal completed in the current transfer window. That could be the best move for all parties involved in the transfer.
