Isaiah Jones is heading back to Scotland, this time the talented Middlesbrough prospect travelling to Dumfries with Queen of the South.

The midfielder, who has just signed a contract extension with Middlesbrough, has agreed a loan deal at Palmerston until the end of the season. Jones spent a brief spell at St Johnstone last term but that loan was cut short due to Covid-19.

Neil Warnock had made Jones a fringe player at Middlesbrough this season, the talented midfielder arriving in 2019 and shining in Premier League 2. He scooped a Player of the Month award in that division last season.

He was set to make his debut away to Inverness over the weekend but that was postponed. Manager Allan Johnston is delighted that Middlesbrough have agreed to another Scottish loan for their starlet.

Palmerston’s boss said: “Isaiah has had some experience of Scottish football with a brief loan spell at St Johnstone. He is an attacking midfielder who can score goals so he will fit into our style of play.

“He is at an age where he will benefit from playing games, so hopefully it will work out well for all concerned. He is highly rated and attracted a lot of attention from several clubs before moving to the North East so I am looking forward to working with him. We would like to thank Middlesbrough for allowing the move to happen.”
