Middlesbrough goalkeeper Zach Hemming has joined Kilmarnock on a season-long loan ahead of the new cinch Championship club.

Hemming has signed a new Middlesbrough deal until 2023 and will head to Kilmarnock for more senior experience. He will again work with Kilmarnock assistant manager Paul Stephenson, who the goalkeeper worked with at the English Championship club last season.

The 21-year-old has had loan spells with Blyth Spartans, Darlington and Hartlepool United. Hemming said of his loan move: “I knew Paul from the Middlesbrough academy and worked with him later when I went on loan to Blyth. My last loan spells really helped me mature a bit. I think coming here, I can kick on again.

“I was really pleased to get it over the line, this is a massive club. Hopefully I can help get us back to where we belong.”
