Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta isn’t ruling Kieran Tierney out of the weekend’s game against Manchester United even though he is currently sidelined with an injury.
The 23-year-old Scotland international missed Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over Southampton with a calf injury. However, even though Arteta has disclosed that the left-back is currently injured, Tierney’s status for the game on Saturday will depend on how well he responds to treatment on the injury.
“I don’t know. ‘He wasn’t available against Southampton in the FA Cup, he was injured. He was still injured today and let’s see how he progresses for the game against United” he said (Metro).

Arsenal’s game against Manchester United is a vital one for both sides. Arsenal’s recent uptick in form has seen them move up the Premier League table. Making a run for the Champions League places isn’t out of the question.
Meanwhile, Manchester United need the points in order to keep up their challenge for the league title. Arsenal’s chances of getting the three points will be greatly improved if Tierney is available.
Tierney has been one of Arsenal’s stand-out performers this season. He has been an almost ever present this season until some recent injury issues. Arteta will hope that the calf problem clears up in time for Saturday’s game.

It is a positive sign for Arsenal that he hasn’t been ruled out of the fixture completely. That indicates that he at least has a chance of making the game at the weekend. However, if he is not fully recovered Arteta won’t risk such an important player.
