Danny McNamara’s form for St Johnstone and Millwall this season has been rewarded with a long-term contract at the Den.

The Irish youth international arrived at St Johnstone in the summer as Callum Davidson used his Millwall connections to bring the right-back to Perth on loan. He featured 22 times while in the SPFL before the Lions recalled him in January.

He made his debut against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup and has since played six times in the Championship. It’s convinced Millwall to keep him around for the long haul as he signs a long-term deal that means he is staying in London for the foreseeable future.

It’s just reward after a big impact north and south of the border and his former club have hit form too. St Johnstone have lost just one of their last nine, an away game with Rangers which was only a 1-0 loss, as glory awaits.

They take on Livingston at the end of this month in a League Cup final clash. Livi had been on a 14-game unbeaten run prior to the weekend but the Saints put that to an end with a 2-0 win in West Lothian during a Premiership preview of the Hampden showpiece.
