Motherwell manager Graham Alexander is keen to keep defender Ricki Lamie at Fir Park until the end of the season – despite signing a pre-contract to join Dundee.
The Dens Park side want to take Lamie to the City of Discovery before tomorrow’s transfer deadline but Alexander is hopeful the 28-year-old will see out the season with the Steelmen.

After seeing his side lose 2-0 to Hearts yesterday, the Motherwell boss insists Lamie is still an important player for the Fir Park side as he tries to keep his side together having already lost Tony Watt to Dundee United this month.
“I think that might have happened on Friday night, I spoke to Ricki on Friday afternoon,” Alexander said.
“But I still see Ricki as an important player for us for the rest of the season.
“He’s a great character, he’s a good player and he’s part of our squad.
“So I don’t see any reason why we need to lose him before the end of the season.
“We have got to be ready to act if anything happens with any of our players but we are happy with where the squad is right now.
“We don’t want to lose anyone, everyone has got a part to play from now to the end of the season. The plan is to keep everyone on board.”
Dundee manager James McPake would like to add Lamie to his squad before the end of the month as he looks to bolster his squad.
With a fight to keep their place in the Premiership, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Dundee pull out all the stops to sign Lamie before tomorrow’s deadline.
