Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has his own team’s Betfred Cup tie against St Johnstone to deal with on Saturday. However, once that game is over, he will likely keep an eye on Falkirk’s tie in the same competition against Rangers on Sunday.
The reason for that – Motherwell loanee PJ Morrison could well be in goals for the Bairns against the Ibrox side.
Robinson has admitted that he has been impressed with how well it seems to be going for Robinson at the League One side, who currently sit top of the division.
“Hasn’t had much to do”
“We’ve watched PJ the last three weeks. Falkirk are doing very well. He hasn’t had much to do because they’ve been doing that well, unfortunately for us” Robinson said.

“What he has done he’s been very composed, very confident. As I’ve said previously this is the best thing for him.”
Explained why move would benefit player
Robinson then explained why letting Morrison leave on loan could be beneficial to the player in the future.

“We thought about bringing PJ back instead of bringing another goalkeeper in. But ultimately that was the reason we brought Scott Fox in, was to let PJ go out and get game time. Because somewhere along the line we believe that if he keeps developing he will be a number one for us.”
Should Morrison play against Rangers it will be the biggest game of his career. If he performs well on the day it could only boost his chances of making an impression at Motherwell down the line.
