Motherwell might not return to action until a week on Saturday – but Graham Alexander insists the next fortnight will still be key for his side.
The Steelmen are in good spirits. After humbling defeats to Hamilton Accies and St Johnstone, they have responded with three good performances against St Mirren, Hibs and Livingston, which have earned them seven points from nine available.

Now 10 points clear of bottom and nine points above the Scottish Premiership’s relegation play-off spot, Motherwell do not play until March 20, an away trip to basement club Kilmarnock. Alexander insists it will still be a busy two weeks, the ‘Well carrying a lengthy injury list.
He said: “I don’t want anyone to relax. I don’t want to think about where we are, think that we can get on easy street. We’ve got a bounce game and we will train exceptionally hard for the next two weeks.
“We have to go into the Kilmarnock game firing on full cylinders. Hopefully this two weeks will give us the opportunity to get players who are just coming back into training up to speed. It will be an important two weeks for us because we want the strongest squad we can get.”
One player who is on top form at the moment is Devante Cole, the striker scoring seven goals since Alexander’s arrival at Fir Park in January. The Motherwell manager says his form isn’t down to anything else other than ability.

Alexander explained: “I don’t think there is a secret (with Devante’s good form). Look, he’s a good player. He’s a good striker. I think we’ve got other good strikers and other good players in the squad but – I think I said last week – we always have a way of treating people, that’s across the board.
“And I think he’s responded well to it. I don’t know how he’s been treated in the past, I can’t really put my finger on it. But we ask him to play in good areas and we try to feed these lads because we know they’re goalscorers. Chris Long’s got a fantastic goal as well, Jordan (Roberts) scored last week and was such a threat.
“So we know we’ve got good talented players but we try to keep round pegs in round holes and I think Coley’s an out and out striker.”
