Motherwell new boy Ross Tierney is confident he’ll hit the net regularly for the Steelmen after netting his first in the draw against St Mirren earlier this week – but insists the focus just now is on getting more points on the board for Graham Alexander’s side.
Tierney arrived in Lanarkshire from League of Ireland side Bohemians at the start of January and the Irishman admits it “wasn’t ideal” coming in midway through the season.
However, after netting his first goal the Motherwell star is happy with how quickly he’s adapted to life at Fir Park as the Steelmen look to close the gap on Hearts in third place.
“I know the goals will come, it’s more about the points. Since I came, we have been a bit iffy points-wise and in the dressing room, it feels like two points dropped but maybe come the end of the season it might be a good point,” Tierney said.
“Coming over in January wasn’t ideal, I knew I wouldn’t come straight in the team because the lads were settled. It was more about getting to know the lads and getting to know the way the gaffer wants me to play.
“I adapt quite quickly. You saw on Tuesday we were able to change formation, the lads were able to change quickly, and thankfully I came on and got the goal.”
