Motherwell midfielder Liam Donnelly has been linked with a move to Celtic by a report in Northern Ireland (Belfast Live).

Capable of playing in CDM, right-back or centre-back, Donnelly’s enjoyed a Motherwell renaissance this season. He’s been a key cog in Stephen Robinson’s midfield and has even notched nine goals.

A move to Celtic though would certainly be a surprise but the Hoops are interested according to the report.

Moving this month

Neil Lennon is looking to add another one or two players this month the report states. Whilst Donnelly only signed a Motherwell extension back in October, keeping him at Fir Park until 2022, a big money offer would give the Steelmen something to think about.

Donnelly’s been capped twice by Northern Ireland too. He has earned a recall to their setup this season through his great form at Fir Park.

With a new deal in place and his stock as high as it ever has been, Motherwell are well placed when it comes to Donnelly speculation it would seem. Robinson won’t want to lose one of his key CDM’s with the transfer window shutting in ten days.

Donnelly has been struggling with some niggly fitness issues as of late but featured for a period during Motherwell’s 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Dundee.
