Rumours of Jake Hastie leaving Motherwell won’t go away. He’s coming, he’s going, no wait, now the winger is leaving. That’s the narrative that has played out so far.
Again the pendulum swings towards him leaving, with the Herald reporting Rangers are back in for the youngster.

There has been so much speculation over this deal. The Motherwell starlet is out of contract at the end of the season. Until he signs a new deal, rumours will continue to rumble on.
Nothing has been confirmed by either Rangers or Motherwell on the signing front or the new contract. Until such an announcement comes, every rumour you hear about Hastie should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Hastie’s a Motherwell player until the club say otherwise
First it was the Sun breaking the news of Hastie’s imminent departure. It was less than a month later according to the Evening Times, with a move to Atlanta United most likely. Let’s not even take the Football Insider report of £15,000 a week for Hastie at Ibrox as serious.

There have been plenty more stories circulating elsewhere, but now the youngster is a target again for Rangers. No doubt next week he’ll have all but signed, only for Rangers to pull out the deal again. The Hastie transfer conundrum is becoming a tiring narrative.
With that in mind, Well fans should remain adamant Hastie will be their player for the foreseeable future. Everyone else should think of him as a promising youngster they would like at their club.
The 19-year old is raw, but the potential is there for all to see. Great physique and blessed with pace, Hastie’s goalscoring ability has certainly went up a gear or two since arriving back from a loan spell at Alloa.

Well boss Stephen Robinson will be desperate to end all speculation by getting Hastie to sign a new deal at Fir Park. It would perhaps be better for his development as he is guaranteed to start nearly every week in North Lanarkshire.
The rumours of a departure will persist though. The key for all fans is to not to take every Hastie rumour as gospel and automatically assume he’s out the door.
For now, the winger is a Motherwell player. That will remain the case until the Fir Park side say otherwise.
