Neil Critchley is understood to be the frontrunner to replace Steven Naismith as Hearts’ new manager.
Not the Old Firm understands the Englishman has already been in discussions with the club’s hierarchy as they seek a full-time boss in the door.
The 45-year-old has a vast career with experience working down south with the likes of Blackpool and Queen’s Park Rangers while he also worked at Liverpool with their academy stars.
It’s understood Critchley has been approached about taking over the helm while another man has also held talks with the club in Per-Mathias Hogmo.

The 64-year-old Norwegian is currently out of work but has previously held positions at Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan most recently as well as the Norwegian national team and Rosenborg.
NTOF understands Critchley is the man currently leading the race albeit the decision has not yet been confirmed by Hearts who are keeping their options open following a robust recruitment process.
Critchley’s coaching career has seen him work with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield but fans may also know him as having worked alongside former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard before the club icon took the role at Ibrox.

Hearts have been making good use of Tony Bloom’s Jamestown Analytical firm company during their process to find their new head coach.
They sacked Naismith, Gordon Forrest and Frankie McAvoy following a dismal start to the season where they have yet to pick up a single win from their opening eight fixtures.
Liam Fox has been filling in as interim boss but won’t be the man in charge beyond the international break, it’s understood.
