Greenock Morton manager Gus MacPherson hopes Oisin McEntee can play a ‘significant role’ for the Scottish Championship club after joining from Newcastle United.
The young centre-back leaves Newcastle United on a season-long loan alongside Toon teammate Tom Allan, who also arrives at Morton from the English Premier League club. Brentford prospect Jaakko Oksanen was the other new arrival at Cappielow on Deadline Day, MacPherson hoping patience is rewarded.

He said: “We’re delighted to have been able to bring Oisin in on loan until the end of the season. Oisin is an exciting young prospect and is highly regarded by everyone at Newcastle United, the next step in his development is to go and play first team football and we are grateful that Newcastle have given us the opportunity to showcase him.
“It was a busy day and a very productive day. Hopefully our new acquisitions settle quickly, play a significant role within in the coming months but most importantly enjoy their time at the club. We knew we had to strengthen the squad and I appreciate the fans have been frustrated.
“But not anymore than the football department at the time it has taken to bring these additions to the squad. We explained to the board that we would have to be patient and hopefully our patience has been rewarded.”
