Hibs take on Ross County this weekend as they seek their first three points since the opening day of the Premiership season.
The Hibees are currently stuck in 11th after a disappointing start to the league campaign. They really could be doing with a win to lift some of the pressure off the squad and manager Paul Heckingbottom.
County though will be out to make amends for their 6-0 defeat to Celtic. As last weekend’s 1-1 Hamilton draw showed Hibs, it’s not always easy playing a side off the back of a hammering.
Heckingbottom could make some changes and here’s what we think the Hibs starting XI will be against Ross County.
The starting XI
Chris Maxwell will keep Ofir Marciano out the side once more in goals. Tom James has been excellent at right-back in recent matches so he’ll likely feature there with Lewis Stevenson on the opposite flank.
Ryan Porteous has returned to full fitness and he’ll keep his place in the defence alongside the ever-present Paul Hanlon.
A sitting midfield two has been deployed on a regular basis and that’ll return against the Staggies with one change. It’ll be Melker Hallberg and Stevie Mallan sitting in those roles.
Josh Vela will drop out the side and Mallan will move back one, allowing Scott Allan to be reintroduced.
At left midfield will be Joe Newell after an impressive display and assist away to Hamilton whilst Glenn Middleton will replace Daryl Horgan on the right.
Up front is a tricky one. Christian Doidge has been picked in Hibs’ last four games at the expense of Florian Kamberi, but he hasn’t scored yet.
We think Heckingbottom will pull the plug on Doidge this weekend, reverting back to the tested Kamberi as Hibs desperately need goals, having scored just four times in six Premiership games.
That’s who we think will start for Hibs this weekend. Here’s our starting XI in list form.
