St Johnstone are set to sign Glenn Middleton on loan from Rangers for the 2021/22 cinch Premiership season (Scottish Sun).

Middleton spent time at Saints in the second half of last season on loan from Rangers. The winger scored key goals – including a stunning free-kick in a Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren – as Saints won a historic cup double, the Ibrox loanee also scoring the winner to seal a top six Premiership spot.

It has now been suggested that Middleton will leave Rangers on loan again, joining Callum Davidson’s Saints for a full season. St Johnstone started their pre-season schedule this week ahead of Europa League qualifying next month, handing highly-rated Ukrainian Max Kucheriavyi a three-year contract.

The defender said: “Everybody at the football club has made me feel really welcome and have put in lots of effort to make sure I settled in. I’m very pleased to have this contract for three years. This is an exciting period of my career because this is a great place to play football.

“It’s very reassuring, and also gives me confidence, to know that there is belief in me. I will now keep focusing on working hard on my game, listening and learning every day, and trying to develop and improve as much as I can.”
