The Daily Record recently claimed that Dundee United youngster Scott Banks is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace.

Now the Eagles have reportedly tabled a £400k bid for the midfielder. That’s quite a big fee, considering he only broke into the United senior side in pre-season, following a loan spell at Clyde.

It just goes to show the promise Banks has and how much he is valued.

It’s a big fee but United will likely want more. It’s not like the midfielder is going to play Premier League football this term. He’ll go into the Eagles’ youth academy and will continue his development there, should he opt for a London move.

United will be keen for him to play senior football. Banks was decent during the League Cup group stage. The 17-year-old made an 87th minute substitute appearance in the Tangerines’ first league game against Inverness.

With the potential he has, United will look for more than £400k. In any deal, they may want a sell-on clause, should Banks go on to develop even further down south.

Crystal Palace’s reported interest is a big compliment for Banks. It shows that performances like his man of the match display against Cowdenbeath aren’t going unnoticed.

He’s got a big future ahead of him and a reported £400k bid for Banks just shows how highly people value him.
