Kilmarnock have reportedly rejected a bid of £750k from Sunderland for their full-back Greg Taylor (Sky Sports).
The Scotland international has been the subject of interest all summer, with one report claiming Celtic would have a deal finished this week (Evening Times).

Another report suggested that Celtic had backed down from the Taylor fight as Killie wanted £3 million for their star man (Daily Record).
Now Sunderland have seemingly joined the race for him. They’ll finish dead last if their reported offer is anything to go by.
Sunderland have shown no respect to Taylor or Kilmarnock
£750k for a player who’s played over 100 games at Premiership level and is a Scotland international (Transfermarkt) sounds silly in its own right.

That’s not even factoring in Taylor’s ability and potential at the age of 21. He is a player worth so much more than £750k.
What makes this more baffling is that the Rugby Park club have clearly set their stall out. They want £3 million, so to offer under a third of that is just a slap in the face.
Sunderland are a big club, and even though they are in League One, will be a tempting prospect for many Premiership players. Former SPFL stars in Jon McLaughlin, Marc McNulty, Chris Maguire and Aiden McGeady have already made the switch.

For the price they have offered though, Killie are right to hold firm. They clearly value their player at a certain price and don’t seem keen on losing him on the cheap.
That’s what Sunderland are trying to get him on, but clearly they don’t see his true worth.
If a player of Taylor’s ability was playing at a bigger club, they’d be touted at much more than £3 million. Just because it’s Kilmarnock he plays for doesn’t mean he is worth any less.

Sunderland are going to have to try a lot harder to tempt Killie to part with Taylor.
