Former Rangers talent Rhys McCabe feels that his current side Queen of the South need to get back to basics in order to get back up the Championship table.
Following the weekend’s 2-0 loss to Morton, Queens slipped to the bottom of the Championship table. With the team in action on Boxing Day against Dundee, McCabe the team to go back to what they do best, to get back on track.
“Got to work hard”
“We know where we are, we’ve just got to work hard. No one’s going to gift us any wins or good performances. We’ve got to earn that right. So it’s important that we get back to basics on the training pitch and everyone works as hard as they can” he said.
Regarding the loss to Morton, McCabe bemoaned the fact that at the moment the fine margins seem to be going against Queens. That was shown in the game against Morton.
McCabe’s excellent free kick hit the bar and bounced on the line, but didn’t go over. Minutes after that, Morton scored their second goal to clinch the three points.
“At the moment it’s the things that let us down. It’s been a few times this season that when we’re trailing or on top in the game through large spells we need to get that second goal.
“Always go against you”
“It seems to be all the week things that go your way when you are at the top end of the table, deflections, refereeing decisions. They all go your way when you are at the top. They seem to always go against you when you are at the bottom” he said.
