If there is one player who has to go down as perhaps one of the unluckiest in Scottish football then it is Hearts centre-back John Souttar.
The 24-year-old has been troubled with Achilles injuries over the years, and as a result he has not been able to feature for the Tynecastle club this season in the bid to win promotion back to the Premiership.
Not featured this season
The injury has also all but ended Souttar’s prospects of featuring for Scotland in the summer’s European Championships.

However, manager Robbie Neilson has some good news on the player’s recovery, as he is hopeful that he might be able to make an appearance for the club before the end of the season.
“He is well ahead of schedule and has been doing all his exercises. If we get him back before the end of the season we will be absolutely delighted, but I think we are all aiming for the start of next season” he said (Edinburgh Evening News).
A real boost
It would be a real boost to the player psychologically if he managed to make his return before the end of the season.

It would be a great occasion for the club, if, for example, on the day they are confirmed as Champions, that Souttar could feature for the team. That would be a great end to the season for Hearts.
It should not be forgotten just how good a player Souttar can be when he is fit. Both he and Hearts will be hoping that he gets the chance to show that before the end of the season.
