Rory McKenzie can’t explain Kilmarnock’s poor record against Aberdeen

Kilmarnock has a decent record against many teams in the Premiership. However, one team that the Rugby Park side always seems to struggle against is Aberdeen.

This was shown once again on Sunday, when the Dons won 2-0 at Rugby Park. Aberdeen are unbeaten in the last eight meetings between the teams.

One player who is at a loss for words to explain Kilmarnock’s record against Aberdeen is winger Rory McKenzie.

“I don’t know what it is”

“I don’t know what it is, I honestly don’t, I think one of the last wins against them, I was in the youth team shovelling snow off of the park that’s how long ago it was” he said.

“They have just found a way of playing against us that works. It’s not a mental thing, we don’t think about it when we go on the pitch. You can talk about it off the pitch, but it’s not something you think of come kick-off. They just seem to have the better of us in recent years” he concluded.

On a poor run

Kilmarnock are currently on a poor run at the moment, having lost their last three league games. McKenzie is glad that there isn’t time to dwell on this latest defeat, as the Rugby Park side are back in action on Wednesday against Dundee United. The 27-year-old also refused to blame injuries for Kilmarnock’s recent results.

“We have got a lot of boys out just now. We can’t moan about that though, it’s just the way it is. The only good thing is that there is another game straight away on Wednesday, so we don’t need to think about it for a week” he said.
