Jason Naismith joined Ross County in December after he was released by Peterborough United. Naismith spent last season on loan at Hibernian. He made the decision to stay in Scotland rather than return down south.
That meant a return to Dingwall, where he played from 2017 to 2018. The 26-year-old made his second debut for the Staggies in their recent 1-1 draw with St Johnstone.
One man who has been impressed with Naismith in his time at the club is John Hughes. The Ross County manager has been impressed with how hard the player has worked since joining the club. Especially when it comes to first-team training and mentoring young players.
“Absolutely fantastic”
“It’s absolutely fantastic to have Jason back as well. He brings a lot to the team, a lot to the club and to the young boys in terms of the way he trains, the way he looks after himself” he said.

Hughes believes that Naismith could be very influential for the younger players in the squad. He also feels that the player’s professionalism will be key in the battle to avoid relegation. Hughes hopes Naismith’s attitude is replicated by other members of the squad.
“Brings that in abundance”
“After a training session he (Jason Naismith) is away doing all his own stuff, you know, box-to-box runs, and he takes one or two of the young boys with him and that’s what we need. We need that kind of professionalism from now until the end of the season. Jason brings that in abundance” Hughes stated.

Naismith is set to make his second appearance since his return to the club when Ross County face Livingston on Saturday.
