Scott McTominay says there will be a big reaction from him and his Manchester United teammates after Sunday’s heavy loss to Tottenham.
The Scotland midfielder goes into the international break this week off the back of a horrific result for the Red Devils. They were thrashed 6-1 at Old Trafford by Tottenham, McTominay playing 45 minutes from the bench.

It was a horrible afternoon and McTominay knows it. Heading into the Spurs contest on a personal high after a standout performance and goal against Brighton in Carabao Cup competition, this was a humbling for him and his Manchester United teammates.
McTominay says it was hard to take, providing a blunt assessment of the performance as he says to expect a reaction: “It’s difficult, so difficult to take. The atmosphere in the dressing room… it’s not easy at all.
“The pressure at this football club to play at the highest level every single week is big so if you want to take that responsibility on you have to take that one and play at the highest level on the pitch every single minute, every single second.
“You have to train like it’s your last training session and for us the goals we conceded were nowhere near good enough from what I saw. It’s difficult to take. The next game can come whenever it comes.
“We have to be so dialed in and focused on our roles and responsibilities as a football club. We’ll take it from there but I can assure you there will be a big reaction from the manager, the players and the staff as well.“
This must be cast to one side as much as possible for the Scotland midfielder ahead of a massive game for his nation. Steve Clarke’s side face Israel on Thursday night, looking to book their place in a Euro 2020 play-off final.
