Scotland must improve results and soon but it will be far from easy with Portugal the next side they face on Nations League duty.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Co are in Glasgow for the next Group A1 match and will be expected to pile more misery on Steve Clarke, who saw his side lose out to Croatia in their latest defeat on Friday.
That means they have won just once in their last 15 and that includes the disappointing Euro 2024 campaign which brought pressure on the national team boss, with punters unhappy with an approach deemed ‘too safe’.
The performances have been their in the Nations League so far but the results haven’t – a 97th minute penalty winning the game for Poland at Hampden, before another narrow defeat in Portugal despite Scott McTominay putting Scotland ahead.
Clarke is adamant his side haven’t regressed and it will be hoped they can do better at home this time, but the Portuguese are always formidable opponents.
