He’s the generational talent of this current crop of Scotland players – and Billy Gilmour could be set for a loan move from Chelsea in the winter window to help him along this path.
The Blues midfielder was a revelation at Chelsea last term, bursting onto the scene and cementing himself as one of the Stamford Bridge club’s brightest prospects. Manager Frank Lampard handed him a Premier League chance and he’s never looked back.

But his 13 senior appearances weren’t able to be built on during the summer post-lockdown as he suffered a bad knee injury. It’s resulted in surgery, a December return for the youngster recently speculated.
Lampard has previously said Scotland’s bright talent will become important for Chelsea upon his return but a new report suggests a diversion on his inevitable ascent up the football ladder could await.
It has been suggested a loan move in the New Year could be something that is used to help Gilmour’s development in the senior game.

An agent told The Athletic: “Younger lads that didn’t go on-loan will force a move.
“The Carabao Cup is out of the window for the next two months as the rounds have already been played.
“Fikayo Tomori and Billy Gilmour should go in January.”
