The going got tougher for Hearts fans in the Edinburgh derby as their city rivals Hibs put them to the sword at Tynecastle with a 2-0 win.

Hearts came into this match with just two wins from 20 in the league this term and without a win since beating St Mirren at Tynecastle. Their other victory though was against Hibs in Leith, so there were slim hopes of a big win heading into the game.

Jack Ross’ rejuvenated Hibees though were in no mood to let Hearts have any respite. They made sure that Daniel Stendel became the first manager since 1937 to lose their opening four games in charge of Hearts.

A Martin Boyle double in the first half was all it took to secure the 2-0 win. It was a professional display against a Jambos side who failed to threatened their neighbours consistently all afternoon.

It’s a result that leaves Hearts four points off safety. A big January is needed if the unthinkable is to be prevented, Hearts dropping back into the Championship.
