Craig Halkett is proving to Hearts fans that he might just be as good a striker as he is a centre-back.

It wasn’t vintage from the Jambos, but they got the job done against Stenhousemuir. After Mark McGuigan gave the Warriors a shock lead, Halkett stepped up to score two in the final 10 minutes, giving Hearts the victory.

Halkett’s now scored three of the Jambos’ five competitive goals so far this term.

Some Hearts fans reacted with glee to the goals Halkett scored and praised his overall  performance.

Halkett has to play every week for Hearts

We’ve previously stated that Halkett has to start every week for Hearts. His Stenhousemuir performance showed once more why that is the case.

He’s solid at the back, putting in hard tackles and clearing the danger for Craig Levein at almost every opportunity.

Halkett’s got a goal in him too. It’s no surprise to see him get amongst the goals in Gorgie. He was Livingston’s joint-top scorer last season with seven goals.

The new Jambos defender is already proving that he’s bringing those goals to Edinburgh with him.

Hopes are now very high for Halkett. The Hearts support will be hoping that his rich vein of form continues during the Premiership campaign and throughout the 2019/20 season.
