Jamie Murphy continued his decent run of form for Hibernian with the vital first goal in the Betfred Cup last 16 tie against Dundee at Easter Road.
With the game looking as if it would end up goalless at half-time, Murphy took a pass on the run from Kevin Nisbet and finished in style. That was the only goal of the game, as Hibernian won 1-0 to book their place in Sunday’s quarter-final draw.
Second goal of the season
It was Murphy’s second goal of the season after he scored his first against Celtic in the recent league game. Murphy has become one of Hibernian’s most important players recently, and he is a regular under Jack Ross after signing on loan from Rangers in the close season.

In 10 games for Hibernian Murphy has two goals and two assists, and that is decent return for a winger.
Now that Hibernian are in the last eight of the Betfred Cup, they will have serious ambitions about winning the trophy. Murphy will be a vital player for the Easter Road side as they look to reach the last four at Hampden Park, then possibly the final.
Some fans impressed with player
Murphy’s performances have been recognised by some Hibernian fans on social media. One fan claimed that the player was the best winger in the SPFL. Another felt the 31-year-old is one of the best signings of the season.

If Murphy can keep up this good run of form, then both he and Hibernian could have a very productive season.
