Hibernian’s 2-2 draw with St Johnstone on Tuesday night saw the emergence of an unlikely hero for the Easter Road club.

Paul McGinn scored his first goals for the club to help Jack Ross’ side earn a point. The right-back isn’t the type of player you expect to hit the back of the net on a regular basis.

Key to winning a point

However, he was key to helping Hibernian rescue a point from the game. His second goal came in the 83rd minute, and had he not found the back of the net then it would have been a bleak night for the Easter Road club.

However, McGinn proved to be the unlikely hero for the Hibees with two goals. Will it be a concern for Jack Ross that he had to rely on a defender to score the goals for his team? Maybe. However, Ross will be pleased that McGinn was in the right place at the right time to find the back of the net.

Maybe this will be the start of a goal run for McGinn that his brother John will be proud of. That might be a bit far-fetched though.

“Goal machine”

Some Hibernian fans on social media were pleased with McGinn’s performance in the game. One fan proclaimed the player as an ‘unsung hero’. Another called him a ‘goal machine’.
