Motherwell turned in a valiant performance against Rangers but it wasn’t enough as the home side eventually came out 2-1 winners at Ibrox.
Devante Cole gave Motherwell a shock lead before Jermain Defoe equalised prior to the break. Filip Helander won it for the home side with a header from a corner.
Some Motherwell fans have reacted to their Rangers result.

Rubbish! Lacking up top, Long isn’t good enough and Gillespie in the big games, very suspect

Motherwell fans can be proud of battling performance against Rangers
Take nothing away from Motherwell, they were superb in Govan. Stephen Robinson’s switch from a four at the back formation to three worked wonders and caught Rangers by surprise.
They exerted themselves with their high pressing and eventually the high tempo they had implemented faded as the second half wore on.
Still, the Steelmen showed great commitment and desire in this match. Collectively they were brilliant, with individual performances from Bevis Mugabi, Chris Long and Liam Donnelly carrying the team forward.
Playing like this, Motherwell will better most teams in the Premiership. The biggest thing for the Northern Irish Well boss will be to work out a way to get this type of performance consistently now.
Both Motherwell and Rangers played out a fascinating spectacle in Govan and Motherwell more than matched their opponents.
