One of the bigger transfer deals to be announced in the January window was confirmed on Wednesday evening when St Mirren announced that Kilmarnock striker Eamonn Brophy had joined the club on a pre-contract agreement.
Brophy, who has scored 35 goals for the Rugby Park side so far, will sign a three-year contract in the summer to move to Paisley.
Will help solve problem
It is a move that will benefit Jim Goodwin’s side next season. So far this season scoring goals has been a bit of an issue for the club. They have scored only 15 goals in 19 games. Goodwin will no doubt be hoping that the signing of Brophy can change that next season.

It is a bit of a coup for the Paisley side to land a player who was linked with a few other clubs in Scotland. The likes of Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian were all credited with an interest in the 24-year-old.
However, it was St Mirren who won the race to sign the player. It will be interesting to see if St Mirren try to find a way to get the deal done in this month’s transfer window.
If there is a way to do that then they might well explore that avenue. For now though, Brophy will start his St Mirren career next season.
One fan praised manager
Some St Mirren fans were delighted with the deal, Jim Goodwin praised for his role in the transfer.
