Southampton are reportedly taking a look at Ross County’s 17-year-old starlet Leo Hjelde (Scottish Sun).
The teenager has been impressive under manager John Hughes in the Highlands, making nine appearances alongside his first senior goal since arriving in January. He has played a combination of centre-back and left-back for the Staggies, Premier League Southampton taking note.
Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side are also seemingly after another SPFL talent in Kyle McClelland, currently on loan at Falkirk from Rangers. Now they are eyeing Ross County’s Celtic loanee with a view to a summer move.
County are fighting for their Scottish Premiership survival and Hughes says the battle will come down to ‘courage’ ahead of Saturday’s trip to Kilmarnock: “At this time of the season it’s all to play for and there is a trepidation and anxiety, and it will be in every team.
“Kilmarnock are at home and I think all the pressure will be on Kilmarnock. When you are at home, everyone expects you to win. But it’s how you handle it and it’s all down to courage and character. I think I’ve got good courage and character at our club. We just have to make sure we don’t fluff our lines.
“It’s about not being afraid of the situation, embracing it and having the mindset to say ‘I fancy a bit of this’. And I think I have got that in my dressing room.”
