The SPFL have announced when the draw for the Betfred Cup quarter-final will take place. The last eight teams will find out who they will face after the Falkirk-Rangers match this Sunday.

The Falkirk-Rangers game kicks off at 5pm, so you imagine that the draw will take place just after 7pm, unless the match goes to extra time.

Draw takes places after final last 16 game

That is a sensible time for the draw to be held. It could have taken place in between the Falkirk-Rangers game and the earlier Celtic-Ross County game.

However, it is better to know the identity of all the quarter-finalists before the draw is made.

There are six games played in the competition on Saturday, with the stand-out game arguably the all Premiership match between St Mirren and Aberdeen, which will kick off at 5:15 as it will be shown live on Premier Sports. Motherwell-St Johnstone looks to be a decent tie too, and it could be a close game, as both teams have been in decent form recently.

Two games on Sunday

On the Sunday, both halves of the Old Firm are in action with both games live on Premier Sports, before the draw is made.

The quarter-finals are due to be played in the midweek of the 15th to the 17th of December, which could mean a busy week for both Hearts and Celtic if they reach the last eight. The pair is set to meet in the Scottish Cup Final on the 20th of December, that might affect when their Betfred Cup games are scheduled.

However, for now all focus is on the last 16 of the Betfred Cup, and the eight games which are taking place this weekend.
