St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson handed friendly minutes to new signings like Brighton and Hove Albion loanee Lars Dendoncker this week against Brechin City.

But the Saints boss will be lamenting an injury to midfielder Cammy MacPherson, who has reportedly dislocated his shoulder ahead of his Scottish Premiership debut for the Perth club this weekend against Rangers. Davidson’s team faced Highland League Brechin City earlier this week.

MacPherson arrived late on Deadline Day to replace Ali McCann in midfield but is likely to spend time in the medical room after his season-long loan arrival from St Mirren. Dendoncker played at centre-back after his loan arrival from Brighton.

Fellow new boys Eetu Vertainen and Ali Crawford also got minutes against the Angus side, but MacPherson joins fellow midfielders Murray Davidson, who injured a shoulder last month, and Craig Bryson on the injured list.

Dendoncker meanwhile is looking forward to life at McDiarmid Park after his loan move from Brighton: “I am very excited to begin as I think it is a really great opportunity for me, to come here and play in the top division in Scotland. It’s a good league for me to help my development. It’s an ambitious club and I am looking forward to getting started.”
