St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin has disclosed he has always pushed winger Kyle McAllister hard as he is eager to see the player reach his potential.
The 22-year-old scored his first goal of the season in the recent 2-0 win over Kilmarnock. He is set to face Celtic for the Paisley side tonight.
Even though he works the player hard, Goodwin has been impressed with how McAllister has performed since returning to the club from Derby County.
“A huge potential”
“I’m very hard on Kyle. I have been since he came to the club, because he’s one that frustrates me. I see a huge potential that he has” he said.

“He burst onto the scene as a kid, got a big move down to Derby and it didn’t quite work out for him, for one reason or another.
“But I have to get him great credit for what he’s done since he came back to the club, and more so this season” Goodwin continued.
“A lot leaner”
“He shed a lot of weight, he’s looking a lot leaner now. His body fat is down, and that shows in his performances. It’s as simple as that.”

Goodwin might be ‘hard’ on the player, but there is no doubt that he is a fan of McAllister. Indeed, he rates the player as one of the most talented in Scotland.
“There is no questioning the technical ability that Kyle has got. He’s one of the best young players in terms of natural talent, that’s in the country. He’s just got to stay on top of his fitness and keep himself in shape. If he does that, then we’ve got ourselves a fantastic player” Goodwin concluded.
