St Mirren have been handed a date for their rearranged home clash with Celtic.

The original fixture last month was postponed after Celtic left-back Boli Bolingoli flew to Spain, breaching COVID-19 protocols. With the Hoops’ second qualfying round elimination from the Champions League, however, a free space to play the fixture has arisen this month.

September 16 is the date for the new fixture. Jim Goodwin’s side will hope to build on what has been a decent start to the season for St Mirren all things considered, winning and losing twice with one draw.

They sit in the top six as the Premiership takes a breather for international matches. Their latest outing was a disappointing one for the Buddies though, losing 1-0 to St Johnstone in Perth.

Next up for Goodwin and his men is a tough home match with Hibs, who have lost just one of their opening six fixtures this term. It isn’t an easy task before they play Celtic in Paisley four days later.
