St Mirren have announced that they are launching an investigation into historic finance issues at the club. The club released a statement on their website, disclosing that several historic issues had been highlighted during the club’s annual audit process.
Representatives of St Mirren’s independent supporters association and Kibble tabled a report to the St Mirren board with a recommendation course of action on how to deal with the issues. The club have agreed to this.
Club have appointed accountants to review operations
As a result, the statement discloses that St Mirren have appointed a firm of accountants to carry out a forensic review of the club’s operations which the club intends to fully co-operate with.
St Mirren’s chief executive Tony Fitzpartick made some comments about the situation.

“The club has taken these steps to ensure that we continue to operate on a sound and compliant financial basis. I would also like to put on record our appreciation of the invaluable work, continued commitment and support of club accountant Alan Gallacher in this matter. Fans can be confident that all actions taken are in the best interest of St Mirren to ensure it continues to be a club of which our supporters can be proud” he said.
The club’s statement ends with a comment that will reassure St Mirren’s support.
“We can reassure supporters that the club continues to operate strongly in the current pandemic climate and our club remains in a healthy and robust financial position” it says.
