The people of the UK came together on Thursday evening to show their appreciation for the NHS, as the Covid-19 pandemic prepares to give it its greatest challenge.
At 8pm, households up and down the country applauded in a show of support and solidarity for the incredible workers and service they provide.
The ‘Clap for Carers’ campaign was wonderfully observed, and followed the news that over 500,000 people have signed up to the service as volunteer responders.
Many people paid tribute, and there was a particularly nice touch from St Mirren, who released a video of some of their players from both the men and women’s teams and others thanking the ‘NHS angels’.
It is just the latest example of football clubs doing their bit during what is one of the most testing times in our history.
From all of us, thank you 👏 pic.twitter.com/XjI7asekP4

Celtic are said to have donated £100,000, while Rangers have also supposedly made donations to hospitals and offered the use of the Ibrox car park.
St Mirren’s video showed a real touch of class, and left some of their supporters bursting with pride on social media.
