St Mirren have reportedly offered Vakoun Issouf Bayo a route out of Celtic Park on loan.

Jim Goodwin had said prior to his side’s 1-0 win over Livingston in their opening match that he was perhaps a striker short of where he wanted to be with his squad. It would appear as if Bayo could be that option.

The Buddies have approached Celtic with a loan offer for the forward according to STV. They had made a move for him in January but nothing came to fruition.

A weight off Obika?

Last season, Jon Obika was the main man up top for the Buddies. He scored eight goals in the league, including a crucial winner against Hearts in the final game pre-shutdown. There’s only Junior Morias for backup this term.

Adding Bayo could lift a bit of weight off the Englishman’s shoulders. Bayo isn’t a Premiership proven talent as of yet, making just 17 appearances in all competitions with four goals since arriving in Scotland.

At previous club Dunajska Streda though he scored 22 goals in 32 games. That’s prolific and it would be intriguing to see whether Goodwin could get that sort of tune out him in Paisley.

St Mirren started their season perfectly against Livingston, winning 1-0. A goal from Richard Tait on his debut lifted Goodwin’s men into third after day one of Premiership action.
