Steven Naismith signed most of the Hearts team but now must watch from afar as they try to get themselves out of trouble.
The former Jambos boss finds himself out of work after failing to build on such a good season last term, sacked in September with the club in the bottom two.
His replacement Neil Critchley has made tweaks and improved performances and results initially.
But they have now won just one of their last six games and are still in bother, sitting 11th in the Premiership table.

Musa Drammeh has Hearts potential
Some of Steven Naismith’s summer Hearts recruitment has been questioned even though the likes of Blair Spittal, Malachi Boateng and James Penrice look to be coming good.
One of the deals that the jury remains out on is Musa Drammeh.
The young Spanish striker was brought in from Sevilla’s B team in the summer but before yesterday had only made two sub appearances, against Celtic and Rangers.
But he was thrown on towards the end yesterday and scored with a really good low drive from distance.
The man who signed him insists the 22-year-old just needed time to settle but is a top finisher.
Naismith told BBC Sportscene: “He’s somebody who has come in and probably needs time to just settle.
“But his biggest attribute is his finishing.
“It is very good, from close range and from a distance.
“But in my time at the club he’s definitely showed that in training at times and this moment in the game it was good for Hearts to get something from the game, it was probably just too late for them to get back in and get some points.”
Watching Hearts is strange for Naismith
Naismith would have expected to be the man in the dugout at Tynecastle still guiding the team.
But results dictated that was no longer the case. He admits it’s a strange feeling to be watching them from his couch but insists he is still a supporter who wants them to do well.
Asked how it feels, he said: “Slightly strange. But I want them to do well.
“I signed most of the players, I believe they’re a good squad.
“I think where they’re sitting at the moment is disappointing. But you see from the performances, there’s loads of good moments.
“It’s not all negative so I think in the coming weeks they can pick up points.”
