Raith Rovers have completed the signing of Stoke City talent Ethon Varian on a six-month loan deal.
John McGlynn is preparing his side for another season in the cinch Championship after an excellent 2020/21 campaign had them finish in the promotion play-off spots. Varian joins James Keatings, Dario Zanatta, Lewis Vaughan and Matej Poplatnik in the attacking ranks at Raith.
The teenager is highly-rated by Stoke City and is capped at youth level by the Republic of Ireland. A statement reads: “Raith Rovers have made another acquisition and secured the signature of 18 year old striker Ethon Varian on loan from Stoke City FC.
“The striker has already, however, made his Rovers debut – replacing Matej Poplatnik at half-time of Iain Davidson’s Testimonial match v Hibs last Friday and acquitting himself well against Hibs’ experienced top flight defenders. The loan arrangement is set to run until January 2022.”
