After seeing off interest from Celtic reportedly (Daily Record), now Kilmarnock will have to fend off Sunderland interest in Greg Taylor it seems.

Reports suggest that Sunderland are preparing a bid for the 21-year-old (Daily Record).  The Black Cats have reportedly submitted an offer for him and their bid, along with a Celtic offer, is under review at the Ayrshire club.

He has been named in the Scotland squad for the upcoming internationals. Killie will hope he is still their man after this period.

Kilmarnock should not lower their Taylor price for Sunderland

It has been made very clear that Kilmarnock want £3 million for their player. Reports suggest Celtic aren’t willing to table an offer of that sort, but whether Sunderland will is another question.

They paid just over £3 million for Will Grigg in January (Transfermarkt), however, they haven’t paid a transfer fee for a player this summer (Transfermarkt).

Sunderland are a big club but £3 million is still a huge commitment from them. They are in the third tier of English football after all and it can’t be sustainable to throw big money offers like that at players on a regular basis.

It has been proven though that they aren’t afraid to splash the cash. A reported takeover bid from MSD Partners could give them a financial boost as well in the near future (The Chronicle).

Whatever Sunderland’s financial situation is, Taylor should still be going for £3 million. Killie have been firm on this with Celtic, the same must apply for Sunderland and everyone else.

Taylor is a man in demand and it looks as though Kilmarnock will have Sunderland to fight now as they look to keep a hold of their key star.
