A recent report has claimed that Jack Ross has identified three players from former club Sunderland that he wants to bring to Hibs (Sunderland Echo).

The Hibees will be out in Spain this week as they undertake some warm weather training. That hasn’t stopped transfer rumours swirling though and Ross is reportedly keen on three of his former players.

Former Hibees in Dylan McGeouch and Marc McNulty have been highlighted as potential targets whereas former Hearts stopper Jon McLaughlin is another name mentioned. These players have been ‘singled out’ according to the report as men Ross wants to take to Leith.

Summer switches sound more probable

The report doesn’t state whether these moves are imminent or summer transfers. All things considered though, it’s more likely that the summer is when these moves will beckon.

McLaughlin and McGeouch are out of contract at the end of the season. They’re free to talk to other clubs right now and Ross could have a chat with two of his former Black Cats. McNulty meanwhile is still on loan at Sunderland from Reading.

McGeouch has a prominent relationship with Hibs after helping them lift the Scottish Cup in 2016. He also formed a memorable partnership in midfield with John McGinn whislt the pair were at the club. McNulty scored eight and assisted five times over 17 games during a loan stint last term.

McLaughlin’s move certainly would be interesting. Right now there are three goalkeepers contracted to the club but that’ll return to just Ofir Marciano in the summer once Chris Maxwell and Adam Bogdan’s respective Hibs deals expire. McLaughlin made 36 Hearts appearances prior to his Sunderland move.
