Thomas Robert will likely be watched when he returns to Airdrie action this month after a trial at Celtic during the League One football shutdown.
Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs and Rangers have all been linked with the French winger, as have numerous clubs down south. Robert arrived in Airdrie during the summer from Ligue 1 side Montpellier.
He was offered an extended contract at the top-flight French club but opted for League One and the Diamonds to put himself in the senior picture. Airdrie haven’t played since January due to leagues below the Scottish Championship’s suspension.
During this time, Robert has been in at Celtic Park, taking in a trial period with the Hoops over the last fortnight. He impressed during his stint in Glasgow as Celtic made the first move for his services.
Robert has returned to North Lanarkshire as lower league football begins to prepare for its comeback but Celtic will be watching. It has been reported that the Parkhead side will keep an eye on his progress when teams kick-off next weekend.
Airdrie were braced for a winter bid but Celtic decided against this, although they could still approach Ian Murray’s side in the summer, should Robert’s progress continues over the rest of the 2020/21 campaign. The Diamonds are currently in the hunt for promotion to the Championship from Scotland’s third-tier.
