Partick Thistle haven’t kept a clean sheet all season- but goalkeeper Scott Fox would settle for a nine-goal thriller to claim three points at this stage.
The Jags find themselves bottom of the Championship, cut adrift from safety by just two points. Their last league win came over Morton at Cappielow in December.
Fox knows that things must change if Thistle want to survive the Championship season. Without a clean sheet all season though, it puts a heavy reliance on Thistle having to outscore opponents.
Whilst a clean sheet would be nice, it’s all about maximum points at present for the Jags: “We’re encouraged by the performance. It was better than last week and the week before that. But we know we are in a dogfight so we need to go again next week.
“Even with a win you need to keep calm. It’s going to be a long 15 games anyway so we need to get more points as soon as possible. It’s still a tight league.
“Ayr are a really good team but we controlled the majority of the game. We were more pressing in the game but that’s the way it works. We defended well as a team and hopefully we can build on this.
“If you don’t keep clean sheets you don’t lose games, that’s the motto. But I just want to win games, I’ll be honest, I’ll take a 5-4. It’s about three points just now.”
