The latest round of SFA KMI panel outcomes have been published, much to the astonishment of some Dundee United fans.

Seven decisions were looked at by the panel from Premiership games played on the 7/8 December, including three from Dundee United’s draw with Kilmarnock.

One of those incidents was a challenge from Kilmarnock’s Danny Armstrong on United midfielder Vicko Sevelj.

It saw the Killie winger win the ball at high speed but his follow through with studs showing caught Sevelj high on the leg, leaving the Croatian midfielder writhing in pain.

On-field referee Steven McLean saw nothing wrong with the challenge and VAR did not feel the need to intervene in the event of a possible red card.

It’s been reported that Sevelj was left with a cut on his leg and in an interview with The Courier, he said it was a “leg-breaking tackle” that would see Armstrong sent to “prison” in Croatia.

No red card for tackle on Vicko Sevelj ‘supported’

But the KMI panel have agreed that Steven McLean’s on-field decision not to award a red card was correct and that VAR was correct not to intervene.

Five members are on the panel and all of them ‘unanimously supported the on-field decision’. No more notes were attached to the incident.

Dundee United fans livid with KMI panel outcome

Dundee United fans have been reacting angrily to the verdict on social media platform X.

One wrote: “VAR just highlights how abysmal Scottish referees are, you add another couple of refs to operate VAR and still manage to screw up. Complete waste of time and money.”

Another supporter said: “It is truly astonishing that @ScottishFA panel believes a challenge where a player deliberately lifts his studs into the upper leg of an opponent warrants no censure. Yet the previous week a challenge was viewed as should have been a red card that was far less dangerous.”

This United fan posted: “Braw, Vicko studs to the knee for Motherwell’s danger man tomorrow and no on-field review.”
