Ayr United have moved to bring in exciting Aston Villa goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo to Somerset Park on a season-long loan.

The goalkeeper department is an area manager Mark Kerr was looking to strengthen for the upcoming season. Last term’s number one Ross Doohan is now with Ross County so they’ve gone out to get Aston Villa’s promising prospect.

The Finnish keeper has penned a season-long loan deal in Ayrshire as he looks to build experience.

Sinisalo started his career in his native Finland with FC Espoo. He moved to Aston Villa during the 2018/19 season, aged just 16, and almost immediately became the number one for Aston Villa’s U18s.

He moved up the rank to U23s, where he has been the regular number one at that level. First-team experience with the Premier League club is limited though, so the Finland youth international swaps Aston Villa for Ayr this season.

Kerr’s side kick off their campaign on October 6 in the League Cup away to Albion Rovers.
