St Johnstone have announced that Wallace Duffy has left the club after having his McDiarmid Park contract terminated.
The defender joined the Saints from Celtic last summer and made 11 Premiership appearances in the 2019/20 term for Tommy Wright.
Things haven’t worked out in Perth this season though, failing to make any appearances under Callum Davidson. The centre-back agreed a deal to get him back playing in the Championship, heading to Cappielow with Greenock Morton on a season-long loan.
But after a formal announcement, the deal was called off for unidentified reasons. Duffy was rumored to be heading out on loan to another club but instead the Celtic trainee has been freed from his deal in Perth.
Meanwhile, St Johnstone are closing in on a new striker. Davidson’s side have scored just once in seven matches and could be about to turn to Israeli forward Guy Melamed.
The forward was most recently with Maccabi Netanya in his native Israel, Davidson confirming an interest in the striker after Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Celtic.
