Bojan Miovski didn’t enjoy the easiest of starts to life at Girona after his £6.8million move from Aberdeen.
The Macedonian, 25, played seven times in La Liga, three in the Champions League and a cup game without finding the net, although he did have an assist to his name.
Miovski was told by Girona sporting director Quique Carcel that he needed to adapt to Spanish football and warned that they may look for striking reinforcements in the January transfer window.
To make matters worse, Dons captain Graeme Shinnie claimed that the striker wasn’t missed by Jimmy Thelin’s side after their own terrific start to the season.

But thankfully Miovski is now off the mark for his new side. And like buses, two came along at once after such a long wait.
Girona took on Espanyol last night and ran out convincing 4-1 winners, all four of their goals coming in the first half an hour of the game.
Miovski had laid on the opener for Bryan Gil with a lovely through pass after just four minutes.
But it was to get much, much better for the former Aberdeen hero.
On the 16 minute mark, Gil turned provider as he picked Miovski out at the second attempt and the frontman had the simplest of finishes.
The same two players linked up again, the winger laying it on a plate once again for the Macedonian who this time had the goalkeeper to beat but did so with aplomb.
Ladislav Krejci scored Girona’s fourth on a very good evening for Miovski and Co.
Miovski can now kick on
We’ve seen it before when a striker moves to a new club, especially to a higher level.
They can be desperate to get off the mark with a goal that they try too hard, snatch at chances and starting playing within themself.
Questions could have been raised around Miovski’s capability to move to that level from the Premiership if he continued to draw a blank.
But he showed he does belong in La Liga with that brace and he can now continue to show what he is made of with that monkey off his back.
