Former Kilmarnock goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann will be a Premier League player again next season as he starred in a 1-0 Watford win over Millwall at the weekend.
The victory seals an immediate return back to English football’s top table for Watford after they were relegated last season. Bachmann has solidified himself as the club’s number one as of late.
He enjoyed a successful loan spell at Kilmarnock in the 2018/19 season before returning to Watford last season, where he was deputy to Ben Foster. But after the 38-year-old picked up an injury in January, Bachmann was handed his chance and he has played every game since an FA Cup tie with Manchester United on January 5th.
Foster was buzzing with Bachmann after the Millwall game: “He was man of the match. I thought today [Saturday] we needed somebody to just be awesome basically, because they [Millwall] did cause us some problems. He was absolutely brilliant and he has been all season. It’s very hard to do, to wait all that time to play and then just go in and take to it like a fish to water.”
