Once again this month bad weather has affected the Scottish Championship. It seems that not a week goes by without a game being cancelled due to a frozen or waterlogged pitch.
The game that has been cancelled this weekend is Inverness’ game against Alloa. The game was postponed due to an area of the pitch being frozen.

It looked like another Championship game could be postponed when a pitch inspection was held at East End Park ahead of Dunfermline’s game against Ayr.

However, that game goes on after passing the referee’s inspection.

It will be a concern to the clubs in the Championship and the SPFL that so many games are being postponed. There is nothing that can be done about bad weather. But when you add in Covid-related cancellations then some teams might be left with a backlog of fixtures.
Concern over fixture backlog
That could well happen to Inverness, who have only played nine games so far this season. That is two less than most other teams have played in the division. Raith have also played nine games, but they take on Hearts later this afternoon.

John Robertson and all at Inverness will likely be concerned about having to cram in a lot of fixtures before the end of the season.
There are three Champions games due to be played this midweek. The SPFL will be hoping that the games go off without any issues, and there are no postponements. Should more games be cancelled, it will only add to what has been a very challenging season for the Scottish Championship.
